Need help asap

so i looked at this hott 97 ek coupe si clone yesterday and it looks nice and worth it BUT there is a problem. the vin number is only 16 charecters long and everytime i run it through i vin checker it comes up invalid.
is this car stolen?

CARFOX. com haha lol carfax bro. it says theres 13 records found in the carfax database so i would deff check although it can be minor things on the report even new registration shows up it say 96 honda civic ex.. g/l bro i hope everything works out..
