    Bottom line......

it's our site and we run it how we see fit.

David Paid for his banner, Vraceworks paid for the one we are working on, Future HID also paid....

For someone to put a link on the bottom of their page might not constitue active advertising in a sence, but, when you have someone with a link that says: "Research and develpoment dynotuning", come on, we all ain't stupid.

So, bottom line is that we don't allow it, and it's the 5th time that we have had to edit your signature....

We do appreciate all of the very useful tips that you have done for all of us here, don't get me wrong, you know your stuff, but when it comes to things like this, we are very strict, this site cost $$$ to run, and we are BARELY covering the costs to keep it up..

I just wanted a second opinion on whether or not I'm really being that inconsiderate. I just don't feel I'm advertising anything. In other context I'm basically saying "Hey, I have a business card in my wallet you can look at it if you want to". Either way I'm done. No need to try and justify yourself or prove me wrong. I'll remove my signature as well as my write ups because I'm strictly business oriented and would hate for anyone to benefit from my efforts.

For you to say you have a business card on this website, you must pay your advertising. What is the purpose of a business card? To gain a new client no?

Listen, I have a bunch of friends on here that own businessees, i dont even let them slide with it, so im deff not going to let you slide with it either lol...

You can remove anything youd like, im just laying it down about your advertising rights on here. Thats all..

Not that I really care but what about all the threads I see that say polishing=$xxx. Isn't that the same as advertising? That isn't even a link, plain as day...along with people saying I will help you on your car for cash. Also soliciting services without paying/giving a cut to ctvtec. Even if it is helpin someone out who may be on brokestreet it is still not in accordance with the rules imo, or it is taking pity on someone and making the successful pay which is also fcuked up.

Yeah, it's a load of shit. At one point my signature just said "Click me" and it was still removed. On all the other forums I frequent community involvement is rewarded and there's no problem with a link in my signature. What's going on here is just ignorance. It's not fair to the "vendors" but in the short time I've been on this website I've been more involved and helpful than any of these people just trying to make a buck. When it comes down to it I'm not a "vendor" I'm a person, a car enthusiast, don't patronize me. Learn to run a website.

Well I am not so sure it is ok to put a link to something that says the work you do and prices but you can let your work speak for its self. Throw up some numbers/build threads on sh!t you put together and let people ask how much to do a tune. Then you are not soliciting, simply answering a question ;)

The differ is. He is running a buisness. Ex. Yates Tuning is the buisness name. Where people that do polisheing and things it's just a hobby and they make side cash, it'd be the same as if the polished the item and then put it for sale. They aren't running a buisness really.

I've even had just the URL to my Myspace deleted. Just a plain, old URL to my personal Myspace. No mention of cars, money, tuning, anything. I've been PM'd and threatened to be banned for mentioning that I can tune so and so's car, or chip their ECU. I usually just ignore it because it's pathetic, but it's getting really annoying..

YET!! This whole forum is pretty much dedicated to illegal street racing. I'm pissing myself off thinking about the fallacy of all this.

It's not a business, it used to be, was over on the west coast potentially, sigh, but now? It's something I do for side cash out of my mom's house and my friend/partner's garage at his house. I don't have a business license or title, nor do I employ myself or a staff, I don't have a business phone line or uniforms. I do this for extra money and for fun.

just leave the guy alone.. he knows what hes doing runs other sites than just this and its the way he wants it ran. i think its alot more profesional this way justlike you go on b20vtec theres a shit load of vendors on there that all pay.

if its bothering you, you should just pay the small fee and become a vendor..not to shut people up but so you actual CAN advertise your business on the site.. i live here in ct and deal alot with cars but never have heard of Yates Tunes before.. as well as alot of the other peeps on here. get some advertising going and you can bring in some cash at the same time. get your own banner/forum u know. its not like hes being a dick about it hes just telling you the rules we all have to follow

That's the thing. It's not a business at the moment. I don't have the schedule to fully dedicate all of my time to this. I do this for extra money on the side. During the day I'm a technician, graphic designer and tattoo artist. I use the name and logo because it's memorable, something you learn in the graphic design field. It's no different than throwing a tacky crew banner on your windshield and considering yourself a part of something. It's just like saying "hey, my boy knows how to tune" only I'm doing it the legit way and have been doing so for years. Most likely the reason you haven't heard of me is because it's not an ADVERTISED BUSINESS. It's something I do privately for people who, no offense, take cars a lot more seriously than 90% of Honda owners, mostly track dedicated cars that aren't street legal.

I've taken the signature down because in reality, maybe one or two people have actually asked me about it. It's just there, I use it on every forum I'm a member of. Maybe nobody notices on other forums due to the amount of user traffic.

If anything I can be a dick and just say CTVTEC doesn't have an potential guarantee and doesn't suit my needs as a investor.

Either way the signature is gone. Carry on.
