  • Registration/Title

So i just bought a 2000 maxima off my neighbor, he bought it a month ago from the original owner. Realized he couldnt afford cuz he has 6 cars already, so he sold it to me.. Problem is he registered it last month and hasnt gotten the title back yet. So now im stuck with the car and no title. Anyway i can register it without the title if he goes to the dmv with me or do i have to wait it out and reg it when the title comes in and anyone know how long that takes i think its about a month or so right?

that acts as a bill of sale, not a title. i've dealt with this exact issue- you must have the title in hand to register the car. usually it takes about a month for the new title to come in.

Yo, go to DMV, pick up a lost title form, have your neigboor fill it out, get it notarized, come back to DMV, pay $25, and there's your title..........or he can just come with you and have everything done right there on the spot....

the title isn't lost, it's in transit. i've been through this. spoke with DMV. tried that. they tell me it won't work.

Well, I just did that 3 weeks ago when I got the accord, and all I had to do was get the title form filled out and notarized, and DMV printed a title for the car on the spot......maybe down there where you guys are at it's doesn't happen, but in Waterbury's DMV I had no issues..

u can have the title form filled out and bring it to dmv with $25 and they will print 1 on the spot or they can also say that its in transit and there is nothing they could do..ive been through both so hopefully u get lucky
