  • Anyone into Paintball?

Im looking to get a gun..

Im debating on two guns, my friend has a used tippman 98 custom he'll sell me for $50.
    Or
This guy who has a spyder electra (electric trigger crap) and a 12" smart parts tear drop barrel, that he'd sell me for 60 bucks.. Which one would be better?

Ive only played paintball a few times when i visited my friend who moved down to chattanooga,TN. We played at this Indoor course with 3 fields and those inflateable bunkers. It was awesome, besides the fact i had no gloves and that i got lit up so many times. lol.

The two guns your looking at are for 2 totally different types of games:
The Tippman is entry level woodsball marker, and the Spyder is an upper entry level speedball/X ball marker. Now depending on which style of game you play plays a huge factor in what marker you buy.
What style of game do you play is the first question.....btw, i play on an amatuer woodsball team.... secondly, what position do you typically play? forward, mid, or support/cover.

Hmm, sounds like you know your sh!t.. I guess id be playing more in the woods, when i played i was normally around the middle to forward. Which do you think would be more accurate?

Well then I would say go with the Tippman, upgrade to a flatline barrel and get the tank off of the marker and get an A5 style hopper. Youll gain more distance with the barrel, have less to get hi with the A5 style hopper and your gun will be lighter with the tank off the gun, it gets heavy when your runnin around in the woods for a long time lol. Oh and I highly suggest getting a stock so the gun is more comfertable to you and easyer to snap up to the firing position Once you get use to that, you can start upgrading the trigger, and bolts.
Spec. Ops has all of these parts for good prices, check with them.
If your going to be playing those positions, your not gonna be using a lot of paint so you dont need to worry bout spraying, accuracy is your goal. The flatline will increase the distance your paint travels and increases your accuracy. And the stock will help you get everything from moving to much as well as taking to tank off the marker, light is key in woodsball, and manuverability, and "pop and move shots" the quicker you move and shoot and move again, the less likely you are to be shot yourself.

The only problem with Tippmans really is that they blow o rings right and left but there easy to replace. If you want to stay with Spyder, try the MR series, I have an MR1, its ok, im getting an Angel though through my sponsor but the Spyder MR's are pretty good and reliable, but there slow on rapid firing

                    LOL, damn. that sucks.

I appreciate all the help guys, im deff gonna look into one of those remote co2 systems. Ive seen them but never priced them.. Sounds like i got a game plan :)

Ive heard that the flatline barrel makes it less accurate.. IDK who i heard it from, but thats what i heard.

Are there any good courses to play at over there in ct? We should set up some meets later in the spring/summer.

i play all the time, at one point i was one a speed ball team. iwould go with the spyder because it is a great all around gun, its not just a speed ball gun, all spyders are low end beginer guns but they all use the same parts, if it does break there is a ************ ton of other guns with parts that will work. the tippmann only uses parts from that gun. you better off with spyder imo.

                      my gun:

I hate spyders and everything about them lol, I constantly had problems with them.

I would get the 98, its a solid beginner gun and has room to expand.

                        Remotes are gay IMO.

The flatline barrel is gay IMO also.

Do the A-5 hopper upgrade, pick up a decent barrel.

Buy a nice coomfy mask with a fog resistant lens, a nice mask will make your day better.

Pick up a pod holder, preferably one that sits on your lower back that can hold a couple pods.

I have some 98 custom ************ left over from when i had my store, if you end up with the 98 let me know.

Im a certified airsmith and high pressure air mech so if you have any problems let me know.

If any1 wants a Bob long im trying to get rid of a GZ intiminator for $200, has new regs installed by them and was serviced.

If any1 plays i have a pretty mint field at my house still, I have a 2 story castle and a ton of bunkers
