Birds, other cars, talking. All that shit adds to a decibel machine. There is no way they can say your car is to loud ! Unless your running, no exhaust from the headers down lol.
Trust me, from a dude who has 12 family members who are all cops, I know a lot.
Tell them you want to fight it. GO get it tested real quick, bring it to court, and rub it in there face. Tell them next time they accuse you of a "loud exhaust" bring you into a sound proof room, then test your car.
Until then, drive as loud as you want =)- 90 eF hatch

You should just really fight in ! Your car is suppose to be no louder than 120 decibels ! In order for cops to test your car, they need for you to be in a SOUND PROOF room. Any noise that is outside is going to add to there machine !

120 db? that's not right. anything above 120db causes imediate and permanent damage to your ear. 120 db is the sound a jet makes when taking off. that's louder than firecrackers going off. the legal exhaust limit is 95db if i remember correctly. http://www.rcaanews.org/noiselev.htm

I was arguing with a buddy of mine before about this, and he told me 120db and I actually wrote that down instead of 85db which 1 of my uncles told me !
My fault..I know here in fall river, its 85db, anything over you get a ticket..but either way still need to be in a sound proof room, to get accurate readings !- 90 eF hatch

i thought 93db was the legal limit.... either way when they check it for db, they have to be at an angle off to the side of the car and hold the engine steady @ cruise RPM, 2200-2500... most pple will pass @ that RPM... i think we all know how to play with the pedal to get our cars quiet. I have a court date comin up for this wit the escort, but im all set, car was sold!
