The question is.........are you sleeving the block? because if not, then go poor man's type r......because LS suffers from rods and main studs, and b20 the same, PLUS the cylinder walls are weak as hell.........but they do make good power...

Herm is 100% correct they do have weak rods and main studs and head gasket problems. But those mother make some power tho.
My turbo is louder then yours!!!

you looking to go turbo? ls/vtec
                all motor? b20/vtec

as far as the rods go they're fine its the rod bolts you need to replace (because they stretch) and you can get them cheap from arp. golden eagle main studs are only $60 its really not that complicated. what do you consider a poor man's type r? a gsr block with a b16 head? that basically gives you an underpowered gsr! the only thing worth getting a gsr block for is the girdle swap (all the way down to the oil pan) and the oil pump.

etch it in stone my man!

all i have to say is that if you have a b18c and are making 160 hp peak then you may want to rethink your build!

I was thinking of a Gsr block ctr pistons n a b16 head. But who knows. I've been readin up on this on other furums. I dnt like the idea of lsv n b20v n there ability to brake all the time. I want a dependable swap

if you're going to tear down a block to change pistons, you have to change the main and rod bolts anywys. you can put ctr pistons in the ls block, the sleeves are the exact same thing as the gsr. b20s are weaker because they are bored out to 84mm. unless you're pushing more than 10 pounds of boost the b20 sleeves are fine. if you're tearing down a block to do pistons anyways then the gsr is a waste of extra money (and you lose low end power). if you want to do ctr pistons so bad then get an ls block. you're still only going to make 160 hp peak with a stock b16 head. ctr pistons alone aren't going to help you (in fact they can hit your valves). are you planning on doing any work to the head?

what other pistons could you use to gain some power and a little more higher rev?
