  • fckin head gasket

so im runnin my boys max, take 1st out, take 2nd out, 3rd starts movin nicely then all of a sudden it gets lazy... i look @ boost and its good, A/F is also hmm... hit 4th and ease into it, sputter, sputter sputter, misfire, look in the rearview and hit the gas SMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKE lol

I smoke coated the 2 lane highway completely... get home, oil EVERYWHERE and dipstick is DRY...

start pullin plug wires while its idlin, cyl 4 is dead.... head gasket anyone?

i'll be pullin the head 2moro, but i have to consider this well being that i have basically no money....

For what its gonna cost me for head machining, valve seals, head gasket, oil/coolant, all that good stuff

I got an offer for a Kia BP motor with 108k on it for $150.... i think this is the better way to go.... we'll see come 2moro....

sucks that the scort is my DD

is all that oil coming from the breather? wheres it all coming from? i doubt thats a headgasket from that pic.

why dont you do a leakdown test or some sort of testing before you rip apart a motor?

of course im gonna do a compression test and leakdown b4 i tear down, but i'm leaning toward headgasket either way since ive had some coolant disappear recently with 0 leaks...

now the other option would be that i had some stupid insane amount of blow by and it spewed all that out from the breather, meaning my rings would be completely shot and more reason for the Kia motor swap

Either way, whatever the issue may be, grabbin the Kia motor is best bet $$ wise, $150 cant be beat, and the labor isnt an issue bcuz as long as the car aint runnin, I aint movin so it'll get done in a day as soon as the motor is in my hands... i'd just have to swap the oil pan and turbo setup

yea thats what i was thinking with all that oil from that breather. that is where its coming from, you sure?

i was going to do a kia motor when i had my protege. or buy a kia and boost it.

If i had more money to play with, i would def. grab an MX3 and boost it, but $150 for the motor and say another $40 for oil, coolant, and gear oil.... and im back on the road... but i dont even have that $$... I wish i still had my LeSabre right now... @ least i'd have a fall back car

u may have a mest up head gasket but i personally think that there is something more wrong if you are leaking so much oil..just drop that kia motor iif its all u can do at the moment

The 94-97 kia sephia motor is exactly the same as the mazda BP thats in the car now... Forged rods/pistons/crank/piston oil squirters/block girdle its all there...

Kia made a knock off of it in 98, but thats not the same @ all

But for junkyard price wise... its "just a kia" so its cheap as hell..

Plus theres rumors of the kia cams being SLIGHTLY more aggressive, and the head flowing slightly better... both unconfirmed
