Simple and easy build without breaking your pockets, mild port and polish with supertech valve train, make sure to port match intake mani and throttle body. I've built a few simple heads and have made good power. Supertech valves, duel valve springs and retainers run for about $500

im not entirely convinced you or your boy are really fully understanding basic cylinder head theory. If you do some research, alot of this advice will make alot more sense.
