  • Oil Squirters??

Was talking to a friend that knows his way around a honda vtec motor. and i wana know what the actual name of the "oil squirters" outa the b18(vtec) that squirt the oil onto the rods.... they could be called oil squirters, and i would like to know what i would need to do to put them in the LS block, for my LS vtec, need my shit to be reliable, and those oil squirters sound like they would held make the motor reliable. and anyone know what kinda griddle i would need to get?

o and on a different topic, axels? im hoping somewhere around 250ish with my set up and tune, when do i need new axels? i want to be able to normally drive the car, then occasionally RIP on it, and not worry about breaking an axel randomly.

you wont need oil squirters thats what the lsv kit is for and i dont think u can put em in the ls block and dont worry about axels until ur over 350whp

they're called Oil jets if you go by the parts catalog, and they help cool the pistons while at high RPM.. unless you are gonna run forged components then the squirters are not so necessary. Forged rods/pistons are able to dissipate the heat well enough without the squirters, so it's best to eliminate them completely by capping the holes.. this will boost the oil pressure to the bearings, which is more important.

see now i have been reading that if your running forged components you dont need the squirters, and if your not, then they suggest using them, idk, i just dont want to spin a bearing, and i want to be able to rev to at least the stock b16a head 8200, but i wont rev past like7800 probly.
with reground crank (the crank had a spun bearing due to my boys dumb likes of bringing his ls motor to redline praticly every shift but thats besides the point, of his integra ls) and balanced, with the proper oversized bearings and etc.

there is no need to rev that high if your not making any power at those rmps..who ever tunes ur car should set ur rev limit at the necessary rpm..just sayin

how will i not be making power at those rpms? when the b16 makes the power at those rpms, and the pistons are gonna be CTR pistons on LS rods and crank, i dont think there will be to much of an issue making power up there, along with posibly pretyt much everything except the cams new in the head.

my car came with oil squirters stock. i'd never take them out, forged pistons or stock. some dsm guys do remove them, but in my opinion, mitsubishi put them there for a reason. they help cool the underside of the pistons and are a good idea for longevity and reliability. i haven't heard much about them on hondas, but then again, i don't know a HELL of a lot about hondas.

i would do that, but i got a whole ls motor for 25 bucks from my buddy, with a spun bearing, that he had sitting around. so if you can find me a gsr block for 25 bucks i will haha.
