  • how to hone single cam

    i want to learn on how to do a basic honing for a rebuilt oem for new rings and what not the motor is great run shape still but burns a tiny bit of oil you cant notice at all but i can so i just wanted to know some pointers or should i spend the 40 bucks and get honed by a shop i just want to learn my self if anything any gurus out there to give pointers

        you buy a cylinder hone and put it on your drill andturn the drill on and move it up and down tthe cylinder at a constant speed and you want the"crosshatch" to intersect at about a 60degree angle, the finish you need on the cylinder walls determines what grit hone to use, and that depends on the rings you pick, make sure you use honing oil or something, never turn the drill off with the hone in the cylinder and clean everything when ur done, but i would also take it to the machine shop and have it done for you
