Breaking in an engine is mainly bogus. It takes about 20 miles for rings to seat completely. When you buy a brand new car off the show room floor does the salesman tell you "You gotta bring it up to 50mph and let the engine slow the car down". Normal driving seats rings, that's why there's cross hatch in the cylinders. To retain oil for lubrication and seat the rings.

I've always just put a basemap on fresh rebuilds and tune from first start up. The tuning takes care of whatever you need to "break in".

:) I'm putting one in my 86' 325. If you have any questions about the motor or where to get parts for it since they never had 'em over here just let me know.

i broke my engine nice and slow i dint go past 60 mph the first 1000 miles ( i know ) but i worked every gear to the speed reved 1st slow to about 4rpm and the 2nd and so on after 100 miles changed the oil then again at 250 then 500 then 750 called dave the tuner he tuned it up for me and almost 1 1/2 years later no smoke runs hard as fuck
