the book tells u to vary the rpms and let the engine slow the car down,,and repeat pretty much the same idea as what that article is talkin about,,i started it let it warm up then shut it off and changed the oil on the initial startup,,then drove it bringing it from 2000 to 5500 rpms and would go from 0-50 mph and then let the engine slow the car down to like 20 over and over and after about 50 miles strted to push the engine more and more gradually..at 200 miles i had it street tuned and went wide open
start it up rev it and hold it for 10mins let the piston seat. then go down the road and put 30psi to it and ur done. run it like ur going to drive it from the start. look at nascar and furmula they blow put new one in rev it and hit the limiter for a couple of mins and driver off. nhra they blow the heads off the car, or a piston, in between runs change them and go out to the next run with 8000 hp hahah
