long story short my cars running ruff i have a 1.6l non vtec i got home checked my plugs and found that cylinder 2 was fouled out it had oil on it i checked the spark threw the wires and plugs and it was good. my next step is a compression test my question is if my compression is good where should i go from there and if its bad what are the possiblitys also. i just want some fresh thoughts or some pointers before i start going to work on the engine.

    thanks

Valve seals or piston rings could be your issue. Pull the codes and see if anything come up. At least that way you have a better idea of the issue.

Valve seals is what i was thinking too. Also did the plugs have oil just on the tips or over the whole thing top to bottom ive seen the valve cover gasket leak oil down onto the plugs and cause a misfire.

I also have a 1.6l non vtec, and had a sporadic misfire and slight oil residue in spark plug 3 a little while ago (at about 160k). I replaced the valve seals and valve cover gasket...it didn't take too long, and seems to have resolved the issue.
