  • manifold/vacuum leak question

So like 6 months ago my ek threw a rod, i let the car sit and finally decided to do the swap. i ended up with a mint mini me swap for a decent price and put it in now the motor runs great, but no matter what i do i get a vacuum leak along the entire top of the intake manifold when i hit it with break clean. I used my y8 manifold because the one i got with the swap didnt have a nipple for the thermostat housing vacuum line. One is a p2k and the other is a p2p dose it matter which one i use? I got a new gasket and used a cookie wheel to clean off the remnants of the old gasket on the manifold and scrapped the head clean with a razor blade kinda stuck at this point cant seem to figure out why is leaking.

Ok so it turns out one has air injection and the other dose not but my question is what is the sensor the vacuum line nipple in the center of the manifold goes to. If its not important ill just use the other manifold instead of using set scews on it.

Turns out the sensor is the fia control valve for the air injection system but since im not going to be using the system i wont need it. apparently the 99-00 manifolds have the air injection built into them All the other y8 manifolds dont. It is used to send intake air to the fuel injectors when the coolant temp is below 149 degrees. I assume its to help atomize fuel for cold starts.

Na i got a new gasket the only reason the manifold didnt seal was cuz the air injection holes so ill use the manny without it and everything should work fine pain in the ass for a lil while before i figured it out.
