  • Lifter Tick when cold

So, with all this cold weather lately, my car lifter ticks until warm. I've changed the oil, added lucas oil stabilizer (which I've had good luck with), but it still ticks. Not a big deal, it goes away when it's warm, but I'm wondering if this is a sign of having to adjust valve lash? I haven't done it before on this car, and don't know what the suggested intervals are for that- or if this is a symptom of that. d16y7.

I would do a valve adjustment. Many manufacturers have different intervals some evey 30k some every 105k.

No Lifters here son, these are real motors...............Just Playin. I knew that would turn your head.

Believe it or not, Honda's recommended Service interval for Adjusting Valve Clearance is, Adjust Valves when Noisy/Audible. Thats some shit huh.

It's real easy to do. The valve clearance specs are on the underhood Emissions sticker. You just set the clearance, by adjusting each Rocker Arm tappet.

stupid me, i wasn't even thinking about it when i posted lifter tick lol. im just used to "other" motors that have lifters haha.

im probably going to adjust the valves this weekend. it only does it when cold, when it warms up everything's fine.

Make sure you Adjust them while the Engine is cold. The Clearance specs are "Cold" specs.
