d16y8 valve lash question

my my daily has been getting progresivly louder while driving a little anoying ass tick it sounds like the valve lash on cylinder 2 or 3 is way the fuck off im going to check it anyway havnt done it since ive had the car just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with them seeming to just go from nothing to sounding like its going to come shooting out of my head within like a weeks time
