headers pass emissions?

  • headers pass emissions?

    hello i just put a new swap in my civic and i need to pass emissions. i dont have the stock exhaust but i do have my old header. they have the 2 bung holes for the o2 sensors but no cat. so i was wondering if this will pass emissions? im assuming not cuz of the no cat but i figured i would ask just to be sure. help me out ctvtec.


    btw if i DO need the stock manifold, let me kno if u got one for sale.....

      Depending on the age of the car, you don't even get emissions testing, you in MA? CT? NY? Laws are different for every state.

            You neef a cat, no cel and your readyness monitors have to be set

              so, you're obd2.

              bottom line, the only way the car will pass is without a CEL. either get a cat on the car, or a simulator for that second o2 sensor post-cat, you'll need either a cat or something that looks like a cat to pass the visual part of the inspection. you can figure out what i mean from that info.

              they don't put obd2 cars on the rollers, just plug into the obd2 port. check engine light=automatically fail.

                You're gonna need the cat I assume. You have a check engine light on because of the O2 sensor stuff? If not, you can ask around for some shops that will pass it....

                    You're best bet would be to get a stock manifold with a cat....that way come emissions time you just swap out the header, pass the test, and put back on header.

                      ok so i just need to make it look like it has a cat n make sure it has no cel on. that sounds good.. now wat could i use to get a good lookin cat? lol

                        i would like to do this as cheap as possible n buyin a new cat would be kinda expensive. so should i just get the stock manifold with the cat? i think thats prob the best idea.

                          Readyness monitors are in your ecu and are reset everytime your battery is unplugged or a cel is cleared. It usually takes around 250 miles to set the monitors so if you reset a cel and go straight to emmissions you will not pass.

                            not to doubt wat ur sayin but i dont think that is true. in my girls civic she had a cel on so we just reset it RIGHT before puttin it on the machine thing n it passed.

                              ok well i guess i have to stick to my original plan on getting the stock manifold with the cat. SOOO in that case if anyone has one i could either barrow for emissions or 1 u could sell me please let me kno.
