if he tries putting it in gear with the pedal down, it could want to stall if the hydraulics aren't allowing enough fork travel.

If the car is in neutral no matter how fucked the clutch is, it will not stall. The only way a clutch will make it stall if its in neutral is if a spring blew out of the disk and got lodged onto the input shaft on the trans causing the shaft to get cocked and stop entirely.

As far as the visibility of the damaged pressure plate, i have 3 act pressure plates ive done over time that have no "Visible" damage but are all slightly bent on a tooth or two.

I have done wayy to many honda trannies and ive run into this before. Its either the clutch or transmission. or both

If the tranny is bad i have an EX tranny you can buy for like 30 bux. Has no issues or anything. Its in my garage. I have the axels and shift linkage too if you need it.

I also have a clutch and light flywheel for that setup. I also have a header you can buy for like 30 as well.

Let me know if u need help or a place to pull that trans i can have that whole job done in 3 hours.

The black fluid indicates possibly a bad slave or master but if the fluid isnt low, it means the fluid has NEVER been changed over time.

If it wasnt low, you can pretty much eliminate the hydro system from the equation. If you are getting travel through the slave to the fork and the fork is traveling through fully, your hydraulic system is A-ok.

If the clutch fork is bent you will have issues going into gear BUT if you are in NEUTRAL and the clutch gets depressed its almost 99% the trans or a seriously fucked up clutch.

I have some clutch disks, transmissions, etc i can show you to verify this.

check the tranny fluid level and condition. if the level got too low or dirty it could have caused any of the gears in the tranny to heat up and become welded to the input or idler shafts in the tranny. that would cause the tranny to be almost impossible to shift into any gear while running or not. it would also cause the car stall in neutral and the car would shudder as if trying to take off from like 4th gear. that is the most common gear to do this.
