  • 96 Honda Civic Problems..

The engine has 40k, it is a D16Y7. converted to a manual transmission.
new clutch new flywheel. car seems to grab fine, doesnt slip. The gas peddle is extremely stiff, the engine revs by itself, makes wierd noises.. could this be from a possible wrong computer? the engine should be a working engine..
whenever the breaks are pressed, the right blinker turns on..
i have not tested obd 2 yet, i will this weekend.

when this engine was swapped the computer was also changed but the guy is not sure if he put the correct one back in..

i do not know much about cars... my buddy does hes been trying to help me as much as he can.

This car has been sitting for 2-3 years, it was a project car.

Could all the sensors be bad? i was told the motor sounds healthy but there is something fishy about it.

got to have a wiring issue blinkers just dont turn on by themselves and an ecu cant cause that if its idling crazy its a tps sensor

i just did the same swap on a 98 the pedal is stiff and if its a auto motor you need a 5 speed mani and a 2wire iacv on the mani rather than the 3wire on the tb. ive got the parts but havent done yet but she runs fine on a auto ecu

no. you can run the factory mani with the throttle body sitting on top and a 3 wire IACV. I worked on a auto to manual swap yesterday. You have to use a dx/lx ecu for the 3 wire iacv. I believe it's a p2e. It took 4 junk yards to finally find the ecu.

so the iacv might fix the revving high and low problem?

Take off the iacv and clean it with carb cleaner should help with the idle but also do you have a cel? It could be the tps sensor as I stated b4
