Oil pressure

I have to check my oil pressure, but plugging in above the oil filter will that give me a reading of what the vtec needs to engauge or do i have to hook up the gauge somewhere different, and if my oil pressure was low would it throw a cel?

Buy yourself a gauge it's always good to know what your pressure is at and it is possible for you to get a cel code cause of a bad sensor but low pressure can also show oil light i would beleive.
