honda oem is the best head gasket.
ebay is good enough arp is arp no matter where it comes from.
vtec kicks in at 4800 rpm i beleive but in single cams you really cant hear it.
if your car isnt wired for vtec is wont kick in lol
    Honda sucks. Over priced junk.

i fuck shit up to much lol. i get bored and piss people off. haha
well im not sure how good you are with wireing and what not. but i can post a list of the pinouts so you can check and make sure its wired correctly. or you can get an EG si harness and itll plug right in. vtec is wired untill the engine harness then either stops for non vtec models or continues on for vtec models. but if i was you i would get an obd1 vtec harness. im sure theres plenty on the site and plug it in and check that out. but if vtec doesnt work a check engine light usually comes on. from the sound of it you replaced the ecu a few times lol and if it still doesnt work then its not the ecu haha. or theres always the cance it is working but you just cant hear it, mines like that. mad quiet.

well im good at wiring lol very good actually haha but not with ecu shit
i have the 1.6 motor harness, that obviously plugs into the vtec but your saying in the main plugs on the passenger side the motor harness stops the vtec wires there?

you can actually hear the vtec pop a lil when it engages?

im actually throwing a code 13 cel. barometric pressure sensor? anything to do with the vtec? thats the only code thats on, thats why i was gonna replace the ecu cuz i hear the barometric pressure sensor is inside the ecu,,

if you have a vtec engine harness (obd1) and plug it into your car. remove the stock engine harness out the vtec one in its place. itll plug right in. converting your car to a vtec ready car (assuming you have a vtec ecu)
in some cars vtec can be heard very loud or not so loud. in my case i cant hear it but its there. please dont ask how to make it louder lol
just get a chipped ecu and you wont have another ecu problem lol disable everything

what makes you think vtak isnt working?

what i did was unplugged mine. put the pedal to the floor (moving ofcourse). my check engine light came on (before i moved) then plugged my vtak back in and put it to the floor. i felt the differece alittle so i knew it was working. or just get a chipped ecu ls/vtec will hook up up with 2-step for the right price get a new vtec harness and vtec soloniod (sp?) and call it a day. or you could splice into wires bring them to the inside of the car. hook a test light to them and and if the light comes on at 4800 i think or whenever vtec is supose to kick then vtec is working. car has to be moving though. no vtec sitting still
