  • tranny mount issues

motors a y7 5spd tranny....i dont think it matters but wth do i know. anyways, my car would make a crazy ass annoying rattle at idle. i tracked it down and turns out to be the mount that holds the tranny to the frame rail. so, ok, easy fix right...wrong. the bolts just keep spinning and wont tighten. anybody got any ideas?

the wholes are stripped that the bolts go into. either get the threads re tapped or buy a new tranny either way the tranny has to come out

Try a hela coil. Other things you can do wyoul be drill it out and tap it for larger bolts or like hondapower203 said get a new trans. If you really want to make it stay and don't really care you could epoxy/jb weld it in but I don't know how long that would last. Your best bet is tap it for bigger bolts or hela coil it.

It's not the tranny that's messed up. It's the holes on the frame rail that the bolts for the mount go into.. Maybe I xplained it wrong.

Oh, you can still hela coil it...if you really want to fix it you could weld it on but that woud be an act of desperation. Can you get to the back where the bolts go into the frame? There is usually a nut on the inside tack welded in and that possibly broke off. If you can get to it you can put it back on and get it re-welded or go but a few really long bolts and fender washers. Then drill some holes and put the bolts all the way through. Kinda ghetto but it would get the job done for the time being.
