  • buildin a y8 block

    im looking to build a y8 i already have a built y8 and im looking to boost with like 10psi or so, im looking for 180whp, i heard all i need is rods and pistons, and was wonderin whats a good set to use, someone said i can use ls rods but dont know if i should or what hp theyre able to make...any suggestions

    My suggestion is to stay away from y8's, Z6 is WAY better!!!

      i had a z6 n its way better compared to the y8.

        y8 actually flows better than a z6, and my head is port and polished, im just looking for input on the block considering im building it z6 or y8 block doesnt matter, what goes into it does

          The oiling on y8's is very bad, rods bearings spin easy

                Vitara G16 Low Compression Pin Floating Piston Set 8.5:1.....are these good? says they can hold 16-20 pounds i only want 10-12...also you think i should replace all rods and main bearings with oem honda ones?

                  I like to go with oem honda bearings, reason is that all Rod Journals and Main Journals are in fact differant sizes, get the right color oem bearings and then use plastigage to measure clearances cuz your using defferant rods then stock.

                    alright man good looks thanks for the help....but are the vitara 8:5:1 pistons good...they say they can handle 16-20 psi

                      I know vitara pistons are great for D-series, Im still not 100% sure about the compression ratio with them, i would need to look in to that some more but my boys run vitaras and they kick ass!

                        yeah thats what i heard to, i read up on the 8.5.1 ones and theyre rated for over 300 hp and im only looking for 200 or so, and theyre decently priced as well, its a project so any additional tips would be great
