  • sohc header question

i just bought a header for my 98 civic ex vtec today at the thompson swap meet. When i got home and looked at the stock manifold, i noticed something plugging into it, possibly an O2 sensor? However, the header that i bought doesnt hav a spot to plug this sensor into. does anyone know what this sensor is and if it is necessary to have plugged into the header?

Here are some pics of it:

Probably primary O2 sensor. If you look farther down the header you just bought there is most likely a bung. If not you can get a shop to put a bung in (or if you can weld you can put it in yourself).

if the headers u purchased has a bung for the o2 then just place your o2 sensor on it and extend the wires to be able to plug it in..i would just get headers that havea o2 bung were your stock 1 does...if u dont connect the o2 sensor then u will have a check engine light and wont pass emissions

I thought there is one that is pre cat and one post cat. Double check because it wouldn't make much sense for 2 O2's before the cat...unless you have 3
