will a non v harness work on a v tech motor

  • #2
Yes, you will need to run 3 wires...for vtec solinoid, ground for the sensor, and the oil pressure sensor wire. Like a piece of cake. If it an ef and not mpfi then you have muuuuch more to do. Also if you are going obd0-obd1 or obd1-obd2 or obd2-obd1 or obd0-obd2 you will need a jumper for the ecu and dizzy. Get um on ebay cheep or from rywire. Pretty much all sensors are the same on d-series' from 88-01 as far as I know, hence why the harnesses will work.

Just pop in the d (if it is a y8 you have to move a few wires around and may have to swap your iacv on depending if it is a manual or auto y8), plug everything back in, and wire up the v. Keep the old engine so you can swap on sensors that may be bad on the new engine. Beats having to make trips to napa!

It's plug in. Just will have to run 2 wires. 1 for vtec solenoid, and one for oil pressure on solenoid. Then just ground the other wire that comes off the pressure switch. If you decide you want a plug n play vtec harness pm me I also have one for sale.
