  • coolant issues wtf!?

    ok some may already kno, 96 dx sohc non vtec. swapped the t stat n realized there was no coolant in the lower hose??? took it for a lil ride, overheated again. ok, put fluid in it. perfect! until now. now i have a kinda bad leak <<< this is not cool. my next guess would be radiator...any one else have a suggestion?

              i have had so many issues with just aftermarket caps leakin (autozone.. ect) buy a honda one and put it on solved my issue

                try a new cap then. inspect the hoses and if you keep overheating run with out a thermostat just make sure you put RTV in the housing or u might leak.

                  run without one!? thats not bad? as for the cap it could very well be aftermarket. idk it came on the car. i guess im gonna have to try the oem cap then XX (fingers crossed). whats RTV?
                  if the cap doesnt fix the issue what could be the next thing to check?

                    i have no idea if its bad or not but i ran plenty of civic with out them. RTV Silicones gasket marker. did you inspect your radiator to see if its blown? if not check that

                        remove it and inspect it im preatty sure youll be able to see if its blown by loooking at it compare it to a normal radiator if it doesnt look like that its most likely blown check to see if you have cracks around the housings and around the inlet where your hose's go. (if you remove your radiator make sure you drain it and have coolant in hand to fill her back up and make sure the cars been sitting for a while before you do anything) good luck hope you fix your prob

                          cool, thanks alot man. if i can get some time ima stop at honda n pick up a cap. mine does look a lil ghetto.

                          p.s. u guys r fn great. every other forums i been on always give people shit for askin what is to them simple and a waste of time i.e. use search button!!! u guys actually take the time out to help. i appreciate it. thanks again
