i'm thinking your rear motor mount is broken/unbolted. It is probably easy to shift when you are driving sometimes because the engine is tilted forward and the trans is in the area it should be when you shift. When you are stopped the engine is leaning back and therefore will be silly hard to put into gear.

Look to make sure your fluid is good...maybe your shift linkage got bent when forcing it into gear? Either one will make your trans miserable.

If you look at the side of your trans (in the passenger side wheel well where the gears are housed) there are two bolts that have a square hole in them (that a 3/8 inch ratchet fits into). Insert said ratchet into the top one and take it out. When you get it out there should be fluid up to the bottom of the bolt hole (also the car should be relatively level when you check).
