Axels

I am trytin to swap in a 4 speed to replace my si trans and the axels don't seem to want to go. Are the axels different between the 4 speed and si boxes? I seem to recall they were/are and with that the hubs are also different between the si and dx. Am I just not trying hard enough to get it put back together?
