Has anybody ever raced against a complete punk? Have any of you ever lined up to race somebody who tries to bring in one of their signal-happy buddies to initiate the race? How about racing people who will keep stopping the race until they're happy with their launch? Or people who let the world know what's under your hood? Am I the only one who's tired of these people?
Quick story...
I was with a friend of mine and we drove down to Jay-Mar to watch a friend of ours race. So, I park in the lot and some dumb@ss punk with an LS swap (not even turbo'd or sprayed or anything) calls me out to race because apparently my so-called "piece of $hit" motor can't touch an LS. I go to check out his car trunk-for-trunk with mine, and immediately, this idiot starts screaming at the top of his lungs what I have under my hood so everybody there knew what I had. That pissed me off. So anyways, he starts talking $hit (I never said a word) to his friends and we go to line up. He brings along his buddy to start the race. He tried to drop his hands really quick so I would jump slowly, but we launched at the same time. More than halfway through first gear, he stops. Now I'm annoyed because we had a nice even launch, with little tire spin. So he backs up to launch again. I'm thinking, "this is bullsh!t" because we're going to keep doing this until he's happy with the results, even though he's the one that called me out!
So, we're lined up again, his friend drops his hands before I can properly rev up, and he gets a good car and a half jump on me. Worse yet, I wasn't even ready so I'm spinning through all of 1st gear. So here I am thinking this is already over until I get into 2nd. By the time I hit the top of 2nd gear I had already caught up to him. By the end of 3rd, I was a good 2 or more car lengths ahead. HA! B!tch @ss!
So then his friend wants to race now with his EF hatch w/ a B16. Ok fine. I really didn't feel like racing anymore at this point, let alone run 2 races in a row. My car wasn't running right back then! Needless to say, I won that one, so then I pull back into the parking lot to shut down. As soon as I get out of the car, the first kid (the kid with the primer blue EG hatch with the LS swap and the loud mouth) says that my car wasn't that fast, and then his brother accuses me of spraying, even when I showed him that I didn't have a bottle with me! They ran their mouths the entire time and I never said a word. They're lucky my car wasn't running the way it is now!
So, after calling me out, announcing to all of Waterbury what I had under my hood (even though he wouldn't pop his), trying to fix the race in his favor, and then re-running the race until he was happy with the launch, he still talked $hit after it was all over. Unbelievable!
From now on, when I race, we go on the first launch. If you mess up the launch, too bad. No reruns because next time I'll just leave or shut down for the night. I'm tired of people doing this
