Friend purchased the car a week ago. Said it was "fully built" had rods, pistons, standalone, etc... etc...

Anyways, we start tearing the car apart...

his stand alone was an a/f boost controller.

I'm pretty sure you can't do a thing, you just got played. Happened to my buddy earlier this year. He bought a 1g DSM with a "Built engine, race tranny, etc etc" from California. Turns out its a stock 6 bolt with a broken transmission and a t3/t4. Ha, $6500 too.

Cars sold from one person to another are done under "As is, no written warranty" conditions, what do you exactly expect is going to happen by bringing this to court?? Except you losing out thousands for a lawyer, unless the lawyer comes right out and tells you that it's going to be a big waste of his time and your money.

Sorry to let you know buddy but EIP tuning has gone out of business because of the same reasons you are stating. They Blew "built " motors on the dyno and then took 1 of there stock motors and put it in the car and gave it back to the customer stating that everything was great with there built motor. There are several lawsuit against them and my because advise is to take it up with the court.

hey stitch if he was registered through DMV he had to have a bond and a bond will cover you and the others that lost there money and have him in court. go to the DMV in his town and make a claim. one of the guys on the site is going through the same thing and if the guy doesnt show up to the date they give him they give you a pay out but you have to have all the propper paperwork and if he had a big enough bond you all get your share but they will tell you if you have a good case and if he did this to other people you should be ok. well g/l and hopefully you guys can recover some of the loss.
