I'm using a Jdm type r motor with usdm ecu from a si and my friend is telling me that I can start the car with it but it'll throw the car off timing because the motor doesn't have a crackshaft position sensor on it. Is this true? Do I need to delete that sensor off the ecu or will it run fine without it?

If it is an obd2 type r swap going into an obd2b car, then the knock sensor will be correct and to make the crank sensor register on a usdm ecu, youd need to do the ckf bypass so it does not limit spark thus making the vehicle not start.RIP NHSWAPS13203
