So I have a 98 itr. The other day I realized I was short on oil, the oil marked the first dot on the dipstick. Being smart I added 2 quarts didn't even check it and started it up since I had to go to work soon. While I was getting ready I heard the car struggling to stay on I don't know maybe sounded like it was misfiring? Then I heard it shut off. I went to go turn it on again it wouldn't turn on. The next day I go check the spark plugs and they were covered in oil. I went to buy new plugs, cleaned the wires ect. Went to turn on the car and still nothing? Anyone know what else went wrong? Is the motor done for good or is it fixable?

Just drain all the oil if u over fill it the oil will get passed the rings usually it'll smoke, idk how it didn't but fill it back to spec.

For the future add 1/2 quart and re check. It's easier to keep adding then to go back and do an oil change for a silly mistake.

The difference between the empty and full line on the dip stick is only 1 quart. Like others said drain the oil and only put in 4 quarts and see where you're at

Yeah I drained the oil out before changing the spark plugs and put the right amount in. The car still won't turn on

Sounds like you might have hydro locked it or ciezed too much oil can cause high pressure try turning the motor by hand if you can then take out the plugs and try cranking it
