  • b18b1 tune up question

I've noticed that after my car gets warm it almost sounds like my engine is straining, between 2-3.5k rpm. when i first start up and go she sounds fine, its only once its warm. any ideas? could it be my mixture? could i just need a tune up?

Check engine light on? Make? model? Details? Any work done before this started happening?

Had a CEL, ended up being my gas cap. It's a 2000 ls. When I bought it seller said new water pump and timing belt. I've noticed the sound since i purchased it and since then have blown an upper radiator hose and cracked a rad an replaced both. I've only had it about 8 months.

Not sure if it matters but I also replaced the rusted exhaust from the cat back and upgraded to 2.5" piping and haven't done anything to match on the intake side.

Overall car runs fine and pills great, I really only notice it from a stop thru first and thru second when she's warmed up. Could just be me over reacting to regular engine sound.

Just an update it ended up being that I needed a valve adjustment...badly

Friend of mine told me not to be concerned, that the ticking was just regular 4 cylinder noise. After the adjustment, so much quieter
