  • B18A1, skipping, backfiring, 4k rev limit.

I have a 92 DA (all stock but CAI, ECU: stock p74, why i am i getting a rev limit?), and just a about a week ago the car start'd stumbling under any type of acceleration. 1st I suspectd the plugs, wires. So I replaced them. Nothing changed but a smoother idle. So just yesterday i replaced the fuel filter figuring it was lack of fuel. My buddy Will's DC experienced similiar symptoms when his tps failed. So i tested mine, full voltage, well ohms. Other suspect: Timing belt missing teeth/skipping timing. I highly doubt its the fuel pump..ANY SUGGESTIONz???? Oh and just for the record i've had a total of 2 stalls, both seperate occasions, one today, also smoking from behind intake mani. couldnt tell where it was coming from..:confused

makes sense..just wondering how much tension should the timing belt have cuz it has quite a bit of play in it..

that's not good i think a good way to tell is to try to twist it and it deff. shouldn't b able to turn more than a 1/4 inch i'm not positive but i think that how

Put the car on timing, slide the belt in, tighten your tensioner, and you good to go on that end.

Then, swap the distributor, your most likely burned the crank sensor located on the distributor.

Distributer Caps & Rotors are suspect on DA's. The Metal center sleeve in the rotor comes loose & causes the rotor to wobble when spinning causing irratic spark in the cap. And the distributer caps, center spring loaded coil contact, gets stuck at times & prevents full strength spark to the rotor. I have seen both issues, numerous times.

If both of those items check out fine, it could very well be a CKP, CMP, & TDC sensor issue which is internal to the distributer & cannot be replaced seperately, as other people have informed you.
