ill make this short...i have tried everything and can't figure out why my vtec is popping open whenever it wants to. i have checked my wiring,i know i have oil and my oil gauge is reading over 100 psi anytime im over 2000 rpm.So today i unplugged the wire to the solenoid and my vtec STILL POPPED its a pr3-3 head with stock cams 13.1 cp pistons....its on a p28 with hondata

How could it possibly engage if u unplugged the solenoid? The solenoid is what locks the rockers. Without that it's not happening

he said hes on hondata so he could possibly have the vtec pressure switch and the other thing disabled

change your solenoid.. the solenoid is a valve which controls oil pressure and directs it to the pin which activates the third lobe on the camshaft. if the solenoid fails it will open under pressure instead of being engaged electronically. is just like a wastegate will fail if the boost pressure exceeds the opposite force against it to keep it close. if all fails the actual vtec assembly may be bad on the head. happen too me years ago.

He can have whatever he wants disabled, but the solenoid would still have to be connected. So what pepe says is probably right.
