  • B20v.

Aight so I was gonna do a k-swap to my car, but now I'm not sure just cuz of the fact that I'm hearing it's a ton of work within customizing the engine bay so I was thinking about doing a B20vtec. With the B20vtec do you guys recommend b16 or b18 head? And is that all that I have to do for this build, is swap the head? And about how much power do these usually push?

Don't steer this kid wrong and keep the bullshit out. He's looking for our opinion on his build , let's give him some real advice. Depends on witch route your going. If its going to be a stock build I would go with a b18c (gsr) head, it raises the compression. B16 head flows better. If your going to build the head dosent really matter, it's going to be built. To properly do a b20-v there are a few things u would need to do. It's easy for a experienced mechanic, not something for a rookie to do himself.

I personally would never do a stock b20v boosted, sleeves aren't as strong as a LS or gsr. Fun and reliable turbo setup would be a stock gsr turbo or even a b16

Your right. But it just gets old when people get on here and ask questions with out atleast spending 5 mins researching. If they don't put in the effort to google something there's no way he's gonna build a motor. Just my 2 cents. But you gave him good info and pointed him in the right direction.

Yea but there is no need to bash anyone, wether he googled or not he's asking for our advice. That is what forums are for to help each other not just to buy and sell parts

if you have that big of a problem with it then you didn't have to read my thread dude, I just wanted to know which head will give you more power as stock, if there's a lot of other shit you have to do with it and about how much power you will put out.

Not alot to do but what has to be done is critical. Head has to be tapped and plugged, LS-V kit has to be ran, I would always recommend aftermarket head studs. A bone stock b20 vtec with a gsr head tuned will put down anywhere from 150-160+ whp all depends on all other aspects like intake manifold, header, exhaust etc play a key part

heres a great link for b20 /ls vtec setup for you

All Motor / Naturally Aspirated - How to build a reliable lsvtec/b20vtec - I put this guide together because I'm tired of seeing the SAME threads over and over of simple questions that can be answered in one simple post like this one. This thread is designed to be an end-all, tell-all type thread. Please keep in mind...

^^This is the way to go if your on a budget. This set up is capable of 190whp with a good I/H/E and tune. Just do plenty of research. Don't forget arp rod bolts too if you wanna rev past 8k. Good luck with the build though, I'm doin the same but goin big
