i was on ebay lookin for CTR pistons and found some NIPPON RACING CTR PISTONS.... just wondering, are they any good? its cheap too.... i think 150 for a set. then i looked at geniune honda CTR pistons, and they run lil over 300. the question is, wat should i get? real CTR pistons? or Nippon CTR pistons? thanks ctvtec!!!

Well you obviously cant beat OEM quality and performance, so if i was in your position i would want the OEM CTR pistons. Regarding the Nippon Pistons, I've heard mixed reviews about them, certain people have been successful with them while others havent. If you want to take the gamble then purchase the ebay set. Me personally, I would not cheap out on something as important as pistons. If you dont mind me asking, what is your set up/goals power wise? The CTR's will net you a pretty high compression ratio. If you havent looked into them, the P30 pistons are very good pistons with a shorter dome height, will net you decent compression as well, and can be found for a cheaper price.

im getting a new ls motor. and i want to put CTR pistons and rods in. then spray 100 shot of nitrous in. i have an integra ls rite now and just hoping to have a back up motor with a mild and relialbe build. im spraying 75 rite now in my car and dont know how long its gona last. better be safe then sorrry you know? so its gona be a high compression ls motor with 100 shot. (no ls/vtec here, not as reilable.) just a high compression ls here.

just a tip.. thats a very poor combanation.. very high comp with a good size shot of n20...def not going to last. what else do you have done to the set up? fuelsystem, engine management etc.
stock pistons are not the strongest esp when mixed with high comp and n20. a stock l/s is 9.5-10.0-1 comp if you run true ctr you will be over 12.0-1 and if you plan on using pump gas you are going to need to have a very good tune or you will have issues even before you spray.
fwiw if your planning on using n20 and are planning to replace the pistons and rods.. buy a set of aftermarket rods and n20 specific pistons , you can choose a pump gas friendly comp ratio and a lot stronger piston to hold up to the level of n20 you want to use. it may cost a little more now but it wil be much more reliable , so cheaper in the long run
and as far as ls/ vtecs go.. im not a big fan of them either, but if done properly can be very reliable. i have build many that have well over 20,000 hard miles on them with out a issue or a drop of oil leaking.. and yes one has 11.0 comp with a 55 shot n20.
