  • Vtec Malfunction(Code p1259) Need Help!

Okay , so i figure , why my vtec was not engaging , got the car scan & this the code that was coming up(p1259) Whiich stand for vtec Malfunction , Im not low on oil but i am leaking up from the top of the vtec solenoid , i change the o ring/Gasket nd put a lil silicone around the area, & it'd still leaking maybe that the cause of the code , but how can i get it'd to stop leaking then! . . Need Some Answers!

    THANKS CTVTEC

Updated: Fixed now , the Vtec solenoid not leaking no more , & not throwing a code . . i just unbolted it off the head & clean it'd up & then itd just stop leaking & throwin a code . .

Light coat of silicone around the vtec solenoid usually does the trick, just don't let it get messy... But if it's throwing a code it could be the solenoid itself goin bad

It's hard to say but ofcourse start with the cheapest fix first, technically it's just a valve inside but it would malfunction if the oil pressure is not letting it open correctly cuz of the leak...worst case hmu I may valve a fresh solenoid layin around..

Lack of oil pressure causes that code.

Correct me if I'm wrong but vtec solenoid tend to leak even with a new gasket. I have heard of adding silicone never actually tried it
