  • need advice on b20 build

wassup ctv im trying to do a b20 w/ gsr head has anyone had experience with them...do i need to tap the head? im also looking into throwing a b18c1 cranckshaft in it but do i use the bearings from thee b18c1 or b20? if anyone has done a swap like this one plz lmk

i could be wrong but i believe u need a special kit to put the gsr head on the b20 to run the vtec. i kno u do for a ls hence the kit being called the "ls/vtec kit" but i would assume its the same for the b20 seeing that isnt vtec either. IMO replacing the crankshaft would be a waste. if u want gsr specs just get the gsr block. but others may differ from wat i say. G/l tho i hope i helped somewhat. just do things the RIGHT way.

you need the golden eagle vtec conversion kit or w.e not sure if you have to tap it or not. and yea just use the same crank shaft just install diff bearings if you want and i would do rod bolts and head studs

Nice thanks a lot that really helps ... But I would like to change the rod throw i want all motor what crankshaft can I use without doing too many mods to the block all I want to do to the block is change the throw, arp head studs and probably run a t fitting from the oil pressure switch and connect a high pressure line to the vtec solenoid

the main bearings are all the same sizes for B series. So you would run bseries bearings for the crank, but you would measure with plastiguage to figure what thickness of the bearing you would run.

The rod bearings are what changes when swapping cranks. But all you would do is run a gsr crank and also GSR rods. But you wouldnt want a GSR crank. Keep the B20/LS crank as it has more stroke than all the rest.

As for LS/vtec kits, you would need to get the conversion dowel pins, a -3 feed line and a T for the oil pressure sending unit. Plug the head. The kit makes it easy, and keeps it clean.

if its all motor, keep the b20 bottom end stock and build a head. People think that just because its high compression, it will make power. But in reality, NA motors make power in the heads.

yea thats how mine is, just rod bolts but other then that stock bottom end everything else is done to the head
