  • Switching from Synthetic to Conventional.

Hello everyone, i have a bonestock b series vtec. ive been running 10 30 synthetic mobil 1 in it for quite some time. now i wanna change back to conventional oil, considering i heard great things from conventional 10 30 in honda motors.

Im not asking wich is a better oil, i know synthetic is a very good oil, i still wanna do the change. now the question is, is it safe to do so? switching from synthetic back to conventional. and what should i do to help the process run smoother. am i gonna get any leaks? misfires? ticks? rod knocks? etc. please help me out people i really wanna switch back to conventional.

No it shouldn't cause a problem, most problems come in when you change from conventional to synthetic on high mileage vehicles that have used conventional oil for the majority of its life. Synthetic oil is a lot thinner than conventional and will find any/all seals that are not 100%. So if your engine doesn't have any leaks, knocking, or smoking issues now then switching back to conventional should be fine. Just be sure to use the correct viscosity (duh).

Lmao no problem brotha, there's only a handful of people on here that would have a right answer anyways. So I figured I'd help you get an answer sooner than later so you didn't have to deal with a thread full of dummies haha.

I've done it. I only run conventional castrol...idk why I use 2 quarts 5/30 and 2 10/30. I had a theory about it when I was 16 and I never had an issue lol
