  • Bogging/ no power

so i was driving today and out of no where my car starts bogging out real bad and seems like its getting no power.. drove fine for a little then started bogging and getting no power when i accelerate.. then the check engine blinked a few times and turned off.. started bogging again with no power.. then it drove fine.. and finally the check engine comes back on and stays on for a few mins then starts blinking again.. so i turn the car off and back on and its idles at like 600 and you can hear it bogging at idle.. so i jumped the code for check engine and it threw 71,72,73 which is cylinder 1 2 and 3 misfire.. im thinking i might have gotten water on the distributor or water on plugs/wires when i degreased the engine bay yesterday.. but its been over a day and just effecting it now.. any suggestions?

If this problem was not present before a Engine bay cleaning, & then Present shortly after, I would def. have to say Ignition interfearance. What type of Cap, Rotor, & Wires?

Chill it sounds like you got the same problem I have. Cylinder misfires? Could be either your ignition module or MAP sensor. If you have a voltmeter check your MAP sensor connector adapter for voltage. Also check for spark on your plugs if you can get it started again.

Well Honda uses Sumitomo or Prestolite Wires(All black with Yellow lettering), & will have the production Year printed on them. Generally, at the dealer, we Replace Spark plug wires at every 8-10 years, So I would say your due.

It will be pretty easy to Diag. Get the car running, get a spray bottle(Windex or something), fill it with water, then spray misted water over the spark plug Wires. If you see sparks arcing out the sides of the wires, well you need new wires. If you dont get the car to bog down by spraying water over the wires, then mist water over the Distributer Cap, If the Car bogs down, Get a Dist. Cap, Rotor, & Dist. cap seal. I would highly recommend using Stock OEW Honda Igntion Components. Hit me or Mike up, & we'll hook you up with Employee discount on them. My number is 265-3166, or call me at work at 741-3401, then ask for service, then Me.
