Blueish smoke = burning oil
Black smoke = running rich
At least that's what I've read on EVERY forum I've searched
I swapped ecu's and no longer smell the unburnt fuel...
Although it still blows a bit of black smoke at high rpms ONLY

to my knowledge the ECU can't dictate the fuel pressure, since that's a mechanical component. it modifies signal based off vacuum/load. the ecu shouldn't have much to do with it.
do you have an adjustable FPR? fuel pressure gauge? make sure the timing isn't retarded on the distributor, cams are both in time, and that the plugs are the right ones and not fouled.
