Sounds like a Rod Bearing thats on its way out. Do you hear it at certian points in the RPM range too? usually around 1800-2800 RPM's. Could also be the Timing Belt slapping the Covers, or Could have loose Valve clearances, but you would most likely hear those all the time. B18A, B18B, B20B, & B20Z's are all prone to Rod Bearing failures, due to their stroke size. Hope I could help.

Oil pump could be weak, which would cause noise when started until the pump primed.

You can take Oil Pressure test Readings & compare to Factory Specs, Or you can drop the Oil pan & inspect for Bearing Soup(Chunk's of copper bearing) in the bottom of the pan. I have personally seen, where the lower end bearings fail/wear & all the copper shavings from the bearings cloggs the Oil pick-up screen & cause low oil pressure, which will in-turn, starve the rest of the bearings, which causes Major Bearing failure. If all that goes well, then Check timing belt tension, & Valve clearances.

yeah johnny, that sounds like the very beginnings of a rod knock or an oil pump that may cause an issue in the future. how bout the summer, did it do it then? or now that it's getting colder only? may be that you're running the wrong weight oil, or that there's simply not enough oil in the motor?

if u need an oil pressure gauge to check, i have one so we can hook that bad boy up to check...if oil pressure isnt the issue, time to rebuild or get another ls bottom end...whichever u feel is best
