  • need opinions on what rings to get.

    i have a b18b thats in need of some rings, it burns about a quart every 2-3 days depending on how its driven. i plan on throwing a turbo on this and dropping it in my new integra but im not sure if i need to put oversized rings in or just replace with stock size.

    i need to get on this soon so any help asap would be great.

    also if someone knows of a good machine shop, i know of one but his prices are ridiculous.

        do it yourself an u can use stock rings

          use thicker oil , and if u go turbo use low compression pistons , stock rings. " my opinion "

            so why do people oversize? ive never messed around with internals, id imagine id have to hone the cyl right? so wouldnt i have to make up for material taken away?

                  car still smoking

                  i put new rings in( standard size) and the car is still burning oil. i even replaced the valve seals. need someone's opinion on if i used the right size or if i should of went .10 over? i've been trying to find write ups and i cant find anything

                      yeah i used a honing tool. but on the valve seals i messed up on about 5 of them bc i didnt tap them all the way down i just pushed them down. not sure if that could be the problem? did a compression test though. dry( and it read 120-125)

                        i'd liek to fix it soon as possible so i can stop driving this s.hitty galant. just not sure if i should just re-do the valve seals or put the .10 overized rings in

                          Did u re seat the valves? That's a low reading for a fresh build
