car starts but wont stay started

i was driving it today with no problem car is runnin a little rich i can smell gas nd is idleing a little high. i stopped the car and now it start but wont stay started i cant figure out why its doin this. it cranks right over nd fires up but dies right after. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks
