My Car running to Rich!!

Okay , my b16 is running too rich , the car idles fine , no misfire , it backs fires when i go over 5krpm then i switch gear , it back fire i guess when i decrease accelaration at 5krpm , but i do have a CEL , due to my 02 sensor , i have neither of my oxygen sensor connected , i know i have to change my primary 02 sensor , and get the secondary 02 sensor installed , due to a new exhaust system . . but when the car idles , you can smell the gas , if its throwing out too much gas , my guess is the 02 sensors not being hooked up or a bad map sensor , and im running a virgin p30 obd2a ecu . . && i did a compression check & the # are good! So Help me out CTVTEC

it's gotta be from not having any o2 sensors hooked up. you have no way of providing 'feedback' from the motor to the ecu, which is likely causing it to run rich. get your o2 sensors working, reset the ecu and erase the codes.

that's the first step. basically, the car is doing whatever it wants, and with no way to monitor it, the ecu has no idea it's running too rich and needs to be leaned out. check your codes, chances are there's nothing for the map sensor. if the MAP was bad, it'd probably be running even worse. gl man
