Hello guys, I have a b18 in my civic and for some reason I can't figure out why it is overheating. I just had the head gasket done, I had the thermostat changed with the gasket, and yet no luck. The car also has some white smoke coming out of the tailpipe. When I pick up on speed no problem, but when the car is sitting at idle, smoke starts coming out. The car doesn't really overheating if I'm on the highway but when I'm continuously stopping at lights and letting it idle/smoke it starts to warm up. Starting to think its the water pump but Idk. Anyone know why its overheating? and does anyone know what can be causing the white smoke now? Doesn't smell like antifrezze... Thanks for looking in advance

white smoke is indication of coolant burning.. did the car previously overheat? why was the gasket changed and who did it.. if it previously overheated it could have warped the head now the gasket is not sealing properly causing air into the system and coolant being burnt

idk man, make sure the fans coming on to temp. i had the same problem the fan would come on, but sometimes it wouldnt and eventually it got worse. just let ur car idle up to temp and see if the fan goes on/shuts off early. if its not that or the head gasket or w.e was said then idk bro lol

check the heater core...try manually flushing out the heater core by removing the 2 hoses from the engine n spraying water from a hose through one side and see if it comes out the other end...if none or if it comes out very light pressure, then ur heater core is clogged...just dont go full throttle with the hose or u can blow the core. easiest way to check the heater core...had the same problem with my da...replaced water pump n thermostat n still didnt changeRIP Nick HainesNHSwaps132036/26/84 - 5/1/10
