  • Idle issues

Ok so I got a b18b1 in a 96 hatch..... car is throwing a code #14 which is IACV. the car idles high around 1-1.5k rpm then drops to about 800 rpm. when I hold the throttle from 1.5-3k rpm the car surges like a semi 2step. I changed the IACV today and reset the ecu ( unplugged neg battery) and nothing changed. the wires on the IACV plug are spliced and reconnected onto the harness could this be causing an issue? ( bought the car this way ) any info would be greatly appreciated.

Something I learned the hard way ..just because its throwin iac codes ..doesnt neccesarily mean that is the problem ..im not saying not to check it....but the splicing wires sounds a lil funky ..check that too

im just gonna see if its tight i dont have to take it off right? bc thats a bitch and a half if it fixes my issue then i will go ahead and order a new gasket and replace. can i just take a ratchet and socket and tighten the bolts?

12mm wrench , socket wrench ,3 inch extension ,12 mm socket should get the job done yeah check nuts first if loose tighten them good and start it up I could be wrong but it worked for me but if you are having a idle problem it something to tdo with the intake manifold could be fast idle.control valve on the bottom of throttle body its a problem with air I think

I bet the wiring is wrong. if it's tapped into the harness that means it was originally a 3 wire IACV and they converted it to 2 wire which is required to run b series.

Double check the wiring on it.

Just get another harness, the harness on there is all cut up. Then if anything get another intake maniand gasket. That's what I was gonna do but I didn't hav the money to do it
