  • Quick alternator removal question.

    Whats up CTV.

My alternator bearing froze, so I'm throwing in an alternator(bought off a member here) and have every bolt off from the bracket connected to the engine block and the alternator is free floating, can't seem to wiggle it out from the top and I heard the power steering reservoir needs to be partially removed to get it out which makes sense..

So where on the Power steering reservoir do I unbolt? There is like a slave cylinder looking medal rod that bolts into the disk and was thinking this but don't want to touch it until I'm sure.

car is one in sig, stock 98 gsr. Thanks guys.

Just take the 2 nuts off the brake master cylinder and you should be able to move it out of the way enough to wiggle it out..

Pardon my stupidity, that won't set any fluids loose or lose pressure in my steering right?

No you wont lose pressure just dont undo the hardlines. And i think you might be confused..

        Power steering reservoir:

        Brake master cylinder:

The 2 nuts the hold the silver part to the black part in the second picture i posted is what you need to remove to be able to move it the little bit out of the way you need to get the alternator. Go easy not to bend or break the hard lines though.. Hope this helps.
