    Quick questions CTV

I just went and looked at a Del Sol I plan on buying. Nice guy by the name of Face. His friend is a member here and listed the car for him in the FS section.
The car has a b16 swap w/ GSR transmission. first thing I noticed was a clicking sound. Now, he was told two different things by two different people. First guy said it was a bearing on the transmission shaft, Which I assume would be the input shaft bearing. The other guy said it was the throwout bearing. The seller agrees with the second guy, and he told me it was the throw out bearing.

The clicking noise happens at idle with the clutch out. When the clutch pedal is pressed in, the noise stops. I'm thinking it's the input shaft bearing, even though he said it was the throw out bearing. I'm not at all saying he's a liar, I just think he's misinformed. He was a genuine guy and pointed out every flaw in the car. I just did some more reading on like 25 different sites to be sure and I'm positive it's the input shaft bearing. When the clutch is pressed in the shaft stops spinning, making the bearing quiet. If it was the throw out, it would make noise when the bearing is put to use, aka when the clutch is pressed. But you all already knew that.

This is my first honda. I also plan to do this myself. I have dropped tranny's in other cars before, but I have not torn one down. I will however have some help from people who have. What I wanna know isssss.......

How long does it take to drop a b series trans out of a sol?

How much is a ISB for a Gsr trans?

Is there anything else I should do while I'm in there?

How long can I drive on a bad ISB?

The clutch bites hard so I'm won't need to do that. It also had a nice light weight flywheel. I was not used to that clutch/flywheel combo and I actually stalled it pulling out LOL that shit was embarrasing. I'll take a look at the throw out while im in there.

Also, How much would a nice lower mileage tranny run me?

    Thanks guys

that is a easy answer it is the input shaft not the throw out the throw out spin all the time since it touched the presser plate and once running will be spinning but when you push the clutch in the tranny will stock spinning in side. and in nutral with cluthc out the trans is still spinning inside just in in a gear. tranny need a input shaft.

                its input shaft bering.

clutch out = tranny spinngin in netural= clickin noise

clutch in = tranny not spinning in nutral = no clicking noise

throw out bering is always spinning = clickin clutc in or clutch out.

Yea the plan is to drop the tranny do a whole clutch kit (with throw out etc) And then inspect the ISB. All I wanted to know was....

How long does it take to drop a b series trans out of a sol?

How much is a ISB for a Gsr trans?

and how much do lower mileage trannys go for?

i take them out in 20 mins. never actually heard a clicking in a bearing.....more of a growling, is it a single click or constant? If single i had a set up with a unsprung clutch and the rivits holdin the plate together wore out and clicked every gear change but only once.

I was hoping you would see this thread lol.

It's a constant click. Not super loud. theres a whirling noise that goes long with it, all stops once the clutch is pressed.

I'm going to pick the car up probably today I'll get a better listen

Hmm. Clicking noise is weird. But I had a similar problem and it was my isb. I replaced my throwout bearing and it still did it. It didn't fix it. I got mad. And I drove the car for atleast 7months like that. And no problems. Just annoying lol.
